Quggalune is recorded as a locality in western Southampton, in the Quoquanantuck or Quogue purchase landscape near Assop's Neck. The name appears in a 1738 town-record description for laying out the north division of the Quogue purchase. The town description connects the place with a highway, a creek crossing, and the head of a swamp. The derivation is uncertain. The surviving record preserves Quggalune as a locality name rather than giving a clear translation.
